This is my first impression and over time will update my review.Simply put, I am not paleo but I do like the mindset behind it and decided to add it to my meal planning for healthy meals.
I love the idea of having a recipe book filled with salads because it is so easy to make the same basic dish!
At first I was upset that there were no photos, but as I continued to read the recipes, the more I realized they are SOOO simple & to the point, so there is no getting confused or wondering if its suppose to look a certain way.
I have made the "Yummy Sesame Beef Salad" (I don't think that is the exact title but you get the point!) And oh my was it colorful and delicious! Purple cabbage & grated carrot mixed with chopped salad and sesame oil. Seasoned ground beef with toasted sesame seeds mixed in and oh my..what a meal.
Last night I made the poached cod citrus salad.
Sliced fennel with poached cod, orange & lemon dressing. Let me say, I did not think I would like this but it was SO different from what I am use to cooking. It was enjoyable. Also, my husband who is 6'4" and I really thought this was a side dish but because you're getting your nutrients, you are FULL! We were amazed.
So with that said, I am excited to have this on me for weight loss but more importantly, a healthier lifestyle!

Wow, this is a massive book! If you like salads, you’ll like this book. If you’re a fan of the Paleo diet, you’ll really like book. And if you like Paleo salads… man, you’ll LOVE this book! There’s more than one hundreds salad recipes in this book and right now I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed which one I should try out next… Chicken with Charred Tomato and Broccoli Salad? Curry Love Chicken Salad? Grilled Fish and Zucchini Salad? Spinach Almonds and Tomatoes Salad?

As a HUGE fan of salads, I was really impressed with the wide variety of salad recipes in this book! Elena Garcia, the Author, has put together an amazing compilation of over 100 healthy salad recipes, which are far superior to the basic iceberg lettuce salads I grew up on. While some of the recipes in this book are simple and tasty side salads that can accompany your main dish, others are like a complete meal in a bowl. Many even come with healthy homemade dressing recipes.
So, whether or not you follow the Paleo diet, I highly recommend this book to anyone wishing to improve their health!
I have been hearing about the so-called Paleo diet for sometime, but I kept avoiding it since I had the impression that I will have to follow a strict diet of herbs and grub and literally eat like a caveman. I wanted to lose weight, but not that bad at that time.
After finally deciding to purchase and read the Paleo Salad book by Elena Garcia, I was saying to myself, where have you been all my life! This book carries a punch when it comes to braking down the recipes of a Paleo diet in easy to understand steps, with ingredients that are accessible from our local grocery.
I was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t have to completely go vegetarian, as this book was able to offer creative and delicious recipes with veggies, meat, bacon, tuna and salmon, and even fruit without having to stray away from the principle of the Paleo diet. There is even a helpful calorie per serving information at the end of each recipe that I found very encouraging in keeping my daily calories in check.
Great book, very informative, and full of delicious and healthy Paleo recipes; definitely a must buy!
What I really like about this book is that Elena keeps such an open mind that she is able to see commonalities between different diets. In today's world, I see that there are many schools of eating which seem to advocate that their own way of eating is THE right one to go. However, I really appreciate Elena's approach - to keep an open mind and see how to combine benefits of different types of diets so that the body can best benefit from what you eat. In this book the author nicely combines eating lots of greens with consuming meat. And I enjoyed trying different recipes written in this book, too ;)
Grab this book and enjoy it yourself! It's worth your bucks.
Aren't all salads Paleo? NO, they are not!! Well, you could blow me over with a feather there. I pretty much thought they were. But, then, I guess that's how I fix my salads. Watching people pile everything but the kitchen sink onto their salads at the salad bar, I see now that a lot of salads aren't only not Paleo, they're darned right Unhealthy. I felt like reaching out and saying, "STOP IT" "That Should Be In The Dessert Section" But, I'm not the Salad Police and no one wants to be corrected, (Especially My Friends)
So, I began my little trek through this Paleo Salad Wonderland of Recipes, not knowing what to expect.
Elena Garcia brings us a plethora of 100+ Salads to choose from. I love Soups & Salads and try to always mix them up. My sister, not so much. So, I'm always looking for salads we both might like and I tried a few in here that we both liked. There seem to be a lot of recipes here for Fish Salads, but I guess that's because the author relies heavily on the Mediterranean diet. The recipes I tried that we both liked were
Spinach Almonds and Tomatoes Salad (I added Turkey Bacon to the Recipe)
Apple Pecan Tuna Salad
Curry Love Chicken Salad
I have not tried the Curried Cashews yet, but they look yummy and I am going to try them. I recommend the book, as there are over 100 salads and you're bound to find several to your liking. Thank you for reading my review.
